Guitar has been a part of my life since the age of 7, first learning steel guitar, or Hawaiian slide progressing to the Spanish or electric guitar listening to the top 40 hits of the early 60’s gradually moving to the more progressive underground or LP rock of the late 60’s early 70’s – developing a style of play I would later use.
I have played with bands such as Fantasy in the eighties and nineties and one of the founding members of Vintage (Best Band 2002), a 50 – 60’s tribute band. In the 90’s formed the popular children’s entertainment group Kid-Pop and won the BX93 Country Roads Competition in 2005 with Idlewood. Various styles have always interested me – but rock ‘n blues is my passion.
In 2005 I joined up with Barb Axford to create another musical outlet – playing various genres of music and due to popular demand, not limiting us to one genre. We play the blues, country, soul, light rock, easy listening and mixed with today’s country. Blackrock recorded a demo CD in the summer of 2007 with 2 original songs on it.
My guitar and musical influences come from many places. The underground LP rock of the 60’s to the more progressive jazz-rock of the 90’s and 21st century. These include ELP, Return to Forever, King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Santana, Robin Trower, Eric Clapton as well as the many old and emerging blues artists from Chicago to New Orleans, New York to L.A.
He can now be heard playing with 'Blackrock', and at Thursday night blues jams at the London Music Club.
